　　美国iRobot公司于1990年由美国麻省理工学院（MIT）教授罗德尼·布鲁克斯（Rodney Brooks）及其同事科林·安格尔（Colin Angle）和海伦·格雷纳（Helen Greiner）创立，为全球知名MIT计算器科学与人工智能实验室技术转移及投资成立的机器人产品与技术专业研发公司。

　　iRobot发明各型军用、警用、救难、侦测机器人，轻巧实用，可以扫雷、侦测敌军，被军方、警方、救难单位用于各种不同场合。

　　2002年9月国家地理频道《古夫金字塔密室》探险，那具具备光纤镜头、高解像度相机、全球最小地面雷达仪的钻臂机器人“金字塔漫游者”就是iRobot的产品。美国9·11事件中，深入世贸中心底下协助搜索生还者的四具机器人“PackBot”也是iRobot的产品。还有协助美国大兵在阿富汗山区“猎杀宾拉登”的机器人，也是iRobot的产品。
