Software that looks and feels familiar. NVivo is designed using Microsoft guidelines, so if you’ve used Microsoft products before you’ll find NVivo easy to use. Rearrange the interface and choose how to view information as thumbnails or lists. Support at every stage. Tutorials get you up and running quickly, and mini ‘show me’ movies offer step by step assistance. NVivo also offers online help; and extensive website resources are at your fingertips. Setting up your project
Work your way. Manage your project any way you want – set up classification structures before you start, create them as you go, or jump straight into your information.
There’s no need to double handle data or switch between programs. NVivo supports the widest range of information, including Word documents, PDF documents, audio files, videos and digital photos. You can even create your own documents inside NVivo. Work across cities, countries and continents. NVivo’s ‘merge’ function lets you seamlessly combine your work or use another project’s structure, saving time. You can even identify different team members’ work after projects are merged. Work in different languages. NVivo lets you work with information in any combination of languages, allowing for true global collaboration. Superior security for your project. Store your project database and research materials as a single file, making your project completely portable. Or store large files separately and link them to your project. Either way, your project materials are archived together

Working with your information
A new era in audio and video analysis. Watch or listen to audio and video files just as you would with a normal media player. Review and analyze files in depth by varying the playback speed or skipping sections by a number of seconds. Link your transcript. If you have a transcript, play your corresponding audio or video file and watch your transcript scroll in synchronization. You can even click on your transcript to bring up the section of video or audio it relates to. Work without a transcript or create your own. If you don’t have a transcript, NVivo lets you work straight from your audio or video files - analyzing your materials as you go, saving time and money. Want to transcribe your own files? Create a comprehensive transcript for an entire audio or video file, create a transcript for a small section, or create a set of keywords in NVivo. Sort and shape the most complex material. As you work through your information, highlight key points, allowing for quick recall or analysis later. Take this a step further with NVivo ‘nodes’ -like virtual filing boxes they allow you to see all information on a theme summarized together. If you’re dealing with more structured information like survey responses, NVivo also offers autocoding options. Build and retain your knowledge. NVivo lets you track your ideas and steps with ease. Use annotations to jot down your thoughts, or create memos to capture detailed observations. Links ‘glue’ items with similar themes together, and you can rearrange the items you’ve placed into ‘sets’ to show a sequence of events for example.

Making sense of your information
Watch your project evolve. Step outside of your materials and take a fresh look at your project through NVivo coding stripes. These colored bars track your project themes and let you compare other crucial factors such as gender or income.
