苏黎世联邦理工学院成立于1855年，又称瑞士联邦理工学院苏黎世分校。德文Eidgenossische Technische Hochschule Zürich，简称ETH。苏黎世的理工研究处于世界先进水平，可以和MIT分庭抗礼。http://www.ethz.ch/

　　从名字就可以看出这是一个以理工为立身之本的学校。在众多版本的排名中，ETH都位居欧洲前列。最新的ARWU排名世界23(http://www.arwu.org/ARWU2009.jsp)。学校以理工起家，至今诞生了10为诺贝尔奖获得者，无愧于诺贝尔奖摇篮。而最为出名的则是爱因斯坦，据说爱因斯坦当年申请ETH也因为高中学习不够优秀遭到拒绝。

　　毋庸置疑，理工科如数学，建筑，工程之类属于世界第一流的水准。但是ETH跟苏黎世大学合作的高级数量金融硕士MSc UZH ETH in Quantitative Finance，可能很多人还不是很了解。鉴于其雄厚的数学实力以及苏黎世大学强大的金融学基础，更有苏黎世这个金融中心做支撑。很多人认为这个项目是欧洲最好的金融工程项目。但是由于ETH严谨的教学和严格的考核制度，这个项目的高淘汰率使人望而却步。但是一旦顺利毕业，则会成为各大国际知名金融机构争相追逐的对象。(http://www.msfinance.ch/)

The specialized Master program MSc UZH ETH in Quantitative Finance (or before 2009: Master of Advanced Studies in Finance) is a joint degree program offered by the University of Zurich, represented by the Swiss Banking Institute within the Faculty of Economics, Business Administration and Information Technology, together with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zürich), represented by the Department of Mathematics.
The program is the core of the Center of Competence Finance in Zürich.

The program (entirely taught in English) offers its prospective students an advanced education in quantitative finance. A special feature is its combination of economic theory for finance with mathematical methods (probability theory, statistics, numerical analysis) for finance and insurance. The curriculum consists of two semesters of coursework followed by the writing of a Masters Thesis. The program starts each year only in the Fall Semester (mid September) and interested persons need to apply for a place of study by the end of February.

Graduates should be able to work as specialists in quantitative-oriented areas of the financial services industry, such as risk or asset management or financial product development. They should also be able to work in a finance function or treasury group of a corporation or in consulting.
