Nordea is a financial services group operating in Northern Europe, based in Stockholm. It is the result of the successive mergers and acquisitions of the Swedish, Finnish, Danish and Norwegian banks of Nordbanken, Merita Bank, Unibank and Kreditkassen (Christiania Bank) that took place between 1997 and 2000. The largest share holder of Nordea is the Swedish Government with 19,9 % of the shares. Nordea Group is listed in Stockholm Stock Exchange, Helsinki Stock Exchange and Copenhagen Stock Exchange.

Nordea has more than 1,100 branches and is present in 19 countries around the world, operating through full service branches, subsidiaries and representative offices. Nordea Group also operates an internet bank, which is the world leader of internet banking in terms of usage, having more than 4.8 million online customers doing more than 200 million payments every year.

Best Private Banking in Denmark and Finland.

The magazine Euromoney has awarded Nordea the 2009 prize for best Private Banking in the Nordics and in addition Nordea is receiving the prizes for best Private Banking in Denmark and Finland.

Nordea named one of world's safest banks.

Global Finance magazine named the "World’s 50 Safest Banks 2009" and Nordea was ranked in 22nd place and number one overall in the Nordic region.

Best fund over 10 years for Nordea Danish Long Bond Fund.

Best fund over 3 years for Nordea Euro Midi Korko Kasvu.

Best fund over 5 years for Nordea Euro Midi Korko Kasvu.

Best fund over 5 years for Nordic Small Cap.

Nordea funds were awarded four prizes at The Lipper Fund Awards 2009.

2008

Best Private Banking in Finland.

One of the world’s most esteemed banking and financial periodicals, Euromoney awarded Nordea with the prize, "Best Private Banking in Finland".

Nordea Life & Pensions awarded Pension Risk Manager of the Year.

Financial magazine 'Risk' magazine awarded Nordea Life & Pensions the prestigious international award of "Pension Risk Manager of the Year".

Best Trade Finance Providers in Finland and Denmark.

When the magazine 'Global Finance' named the "World's Best Trade Finance Providers 2008", Nordea won the title in both Finland and Denmark.
